The Weekend Read✨Your 7 Day Colour Confidence Challenge

Hello,
Remember that buzz you felt after your colour analysis session with House of Colour? The excitement of discovering your wow colours, the lipstick that lifted your whole face, and the colour fan you knew would transform your wardrobe?
And then, for some of you, it all just became a little safe. A little samey. You slip back into your neutrals with denim, and suddenly those wonderful colours that were life changing are a distant memory.
Well, it’s time to stir things up.
Welcome to the Colour Confidence Challenge
The Colour Confidence Challenge is your 7-day colour reboot to reconnect with your seasonal palette, reignite your confidence, and have some good old-fashioned fun with colour again.
There is no shopping required, no hard rules, just a daily splash of colour — and a big dose of 'Oh hello, you look fabulous'!
What Is the Colour Confidence Challenge?
This is our one-week invitation to you to:
- Re-wear colours you've forgotten about.
- Play with palette pairings like a stylist.
- Use your lipstick as a power tool.
Add joy to your everyday look.
All in seven small, colourful steps.
We don't believe in rules, so these guidelines will help you to take action:
- For 7 days, wear at least one visible colour from your seasonal palette - in your clothes, accessories, lipstick, make-up - it all counts.
- No colour repeats. (You’ve got loads to choose from, we promise!)
- Go bold, go tonal, go print — whatever floats your stylish boat.
- Optional: We'd love to see how you get on during the week, so feel free to share your looks on Instagram with #ColourConfidenceChallenge. Tag us so we can cheer you on!
Your Day-by-Day Colour Game Plan: Day 1
Start with a bang by wearing one of your boldest, brighter seasonal colours.
Think of this as your 'energy shot' shade. The one that lights you up and gets the compliments flowing.
- Springs: Go for coral, canary yellow, kerry green, or poppy red.
- Summers: Try cornflower blue, jade green, rose madder or raspberry.
- Autumns: Reach for peacock, rust, kingfisher or brick red.
- Winters: Embrace electric blue, fuchsia pink, emerald, or royal purple.
Make-up Tip: Try bright lips to go with your bright top. If you're wearing one of your three points of red, wear your lipstick to match.
Style tip: If you're not ready for a full bright top, try earrings, a scarf, or a bold bag instead.

Day 2
Wear a forgotten favourite colour, one that flatters you, but you rarely reach for.
You know the ones, they look great, but you forget they exist. Today’s the day to bring them out.
- Springs: Tangerine, corn yellow and salmon.
- Summers: Powder blue, clover and lilac.
- Autumns: Apple Jade, yellow ochre and apricot.
- Winters: Lobelia. lagoon blue and acid yellow.
Day 3
Try wearing a pink from your palette — even if you think you’re not a pink person. Pink is associated with femininity, romance and love. It has a calming effect and represents compassion for others.
- Springs: Geranium, flamingo and shocking pink.
- Summers: Rose, cyclamen and dusky pink.
- Autumns: Rosewood and coral.
- Winters: Fuchsia, magenta and cerise.
Make-up tip: Today’s your pink lipstick day! For a softer look, apply your pink lipstick with your finger rather than straight from the tube.
Style tip: Add pink in accessories, especially earrings or shoes for extra style points.
Day 4
Wear two (or more) colours from your palette together. You don’t need to be a stylist to colour block like one. Use your colour fan as inspiration and get mixing!
- Springs: Coral and apple green, turquoise and corn yellow, bright navy and geranium.
- Autumns: Olive and mustard, peacock and chestnut, amber and forest green.
- Summers: French navy and pastel rose, lavender and sky blue, rose brown + pastel jade.
- Winters: Charcoal and ice aqua, royal blue and scarlet, white and light emerald.
Style tip: Experiment with different colour combinations from your wardrobe. See which tops and bottoms work together and make a note.
Day 5
Today your focus centres on your lip colour - use lipstick, lip gloss, liquid matte or even just a lip pencil and build your outfit from there. Many clients are unsure of wearing red as a day to day colour and save it for going out in the evening. So today, why not dig out that red that scared you a bit, and choose your outfit based on this colour? It'll be worth it!
- Springs: L12 Brick, L174 Coral or L640 Spring Pink Shimmer.
- Autumns: L606 geranium Red, L410 Copper or L5 Rust.
- Summers: L28 Cherry. L3 Plum or L17 Rose Shimmer.
- Winters: L499 Deep Red, L61 Raspberry Shimmer or L512 Burgundy.
Outfit tip: Use accessories to mirror the tone - a necklace, scarf, bag, or even nails!
Pro tip: Take a selfie. See yourself as others do. You might just discover a new signature look.

Day 6
Add colour through accessories only. If you don't feel like wearing a full bright outfit today, no problem. This is the day for belts, shoes, glasses, jewellery, and scarves to do the talking. Why not try these:
Swap your neutral-coloured handbag for a brighter one.
Replace your neutral-coloured shoes for something more of a statement.
Choose coloured bracelets or statement earrings.
Top tip: Wearing a wow colour near your face is the equivalent of shining a spotlight on you.
Day 7
Today is all about your choice. Wear your favourite colour from your seasonal palette and OWN it.
This is your superhero cape shade. The one that makes you feel unstoppable, confident, beautiful and you.
At the end of today, ask yourself this: 'How do I feel today compared to day 1?' Chances are you may well feel lighter, brighter and more like you.
The Power of Neutrals
Neutrals are the chic workhorses of your wardrobe, but don’t let them hog the spotlight. They’re the base, not the main event.
Here’s the thing: neutrals sing louder when paired with colour. Left on their own, they can feel a bit plain.
Here are some inspirational colour pairings for you to try:
- Springs: Tan and tangerine, dove grey and violet or cream and aquamarine.
- Summers: Dark blue grey and pink beige, light blue grey and plum or delph and primrose.
- Autumns: Dark brown and saffron, camel and light sage or oyster and heliotrope.
- Winters: Navy and ice blue, indigo and ice hyacinth or burgundy and silver.
Top tip: Neutrals are brilliant for investment pieces such as jackets, shoes and bags. Your neutrals are the most versatile and flexible colours in your whole palette, so make sure you own plenty of them.
After the 7 days are over, take five minutes to reflect:
Which colour made me feel amazing?
Which colour surprised me the most?
Where did I get compliments?
What did I learn about my colour palette?
What do I want more of in my wardrobe?
Want to Take it Further?
We hope this week has inspired you to take a fresh look at your wardrobe and inject some of your wow colours into your everyday outfits. Try taking these next steps to continue looking and feeling fabulous:
Reorganise your wardrobe by colour.
Start a seasonal capsule wardrobe.
Revisit your lipstick collection — do you have all your wow shades?
Invite a friend(s) to do this challenge with you.
Final Thoughts: Your Colour Confidence Challenge Starts Now
This isn’t about being perfect, polished or even Instagram-ready. It’s about remembering that colour is a tool for joy, confidence, and creativity. When you dress in your colours, something shifts. You stand taller, smile more and you show up with intention so that people notice.
So here’s to being seen, to being bold and to being brave. Why not wear the bold lipstick on a Tuesday? We can’t wait to see what you create. Don’t forget to tag us @houseofcolour_jennygoldsmith, @houseofcolour_judiprue and use #ColourConfidenceChallenge.
Enjoy your weekend! Next week's 'The Weekend Read' is all about Festival dressing. Look out for that next Saturday.
Best wishes,
