The 5 Pieces You Need in Your Wardrobe This Spring

Hello!

There is something about this time of year that makes us want to fling open our wardrobe doors and reassess everything. The heavy knits start to feel weary, the dark colours a little boring and we’re craving lightness and a fresh point of view.

Spring/Summer 2026 is not about a complete reinvention (did you read last weeks two part blog?), it’s about refinement, because you know what suits you. It’s about choosing pieces that work hard for you, make you feel beautiful in them and slot effortlessly into your life, whether that’s school runs, client meetings, lunches with friends or weekends away.

Judi and I have been watching the catwalks, the high street and our clients. We’ve started to notice a shift, in that women want polish without stiffness, personality without being overwhelmed and clothes that support who they are becoming.

So here are our top five must-haves for Spring/Summer 2026. You probably already own some of these pieces, which is great as we are all about shopping in our wardrobes first. You might find them second hand or you might invest in something new this season to freshen up your wardrobe. The key is choosing these pieces in colours, shapes and fabrics that make you feel quietly powerful.

At the end of this blog we have a special invitation just for you to join us on our Spring/Summer 2026 Seasonal Style Guide Evenings, so look out for that.

Denim, Reimagined

Denim isn’t going anywhere this season, but it is evolving. For Spring/Summer 2026 we’re seeing softer silhouettes such as pussy bow blouses, palazzo style and wide leg jeans, barrel leg and relaxed straight cuts, denim skirts and jackets in an array of styles, lengths and colours.

We love denim because it grounds an outfit. It gives structure to floaty fabrics and casual days. A wide leg jean with a short-sleeved knit feels modern and effortless. A denim skirt with a waistcoat and loafers? Instantly elevated.

The magic is in the wash. Inky dark denim feels sharp and confident, softer mid-blues feel relaxed and approachable and white denim brings freshness and light.

And here’s the subtle emotional shift: when your denim fits properly and flatters your shape, you stand differently and you move differently. Confidence isn’t loud, sometimes it’s simply a beautifully fitting pair of jeans.

Texture, Texture, Texture

This season you will be seeing texture absolutely everywhere in clothing, accessories and shoes. Linen, soft suede, faux leather, fur, satins and silks, cotton poplin, crochet, lace and slubbed knits can all be found in large quantities on the high street.

Texture creates depth in our outfits, even when we’re wearing neutrals. A linen blazer over a silky camisole feels entirely different from a flat jersey layer. A lace insert softens tailoring and can take you from day to night. A suede jacket adds luxury and flexibility.

For those who love simplicity, texture stops an outfit feeling flat and for those who love drama, it adds richness and a focal point. And to be honest, when something feels gorgeous against your skin, it subtly changes your mood. There’s science behind that, but you don’t need the research to know it’s true.

Soft Tailoring

This is the big shift for styling this season. It's tailoring, but tailoring without the stiffness. We are seeing lots of relaxed suits with tailored or fluid wide-leg trousers and oversized blazers. Waistcoats are huge this season and can be worn alone or layered with suit trousers for a city look or dressed down with jeans and trainers.

We really like the softly structured blazer thrown over denim and a tee, a waistcoat with tailored trousers for evening and statement jewellery and a relaxed suit broken up and worn as separates, which gives you many more outfit options.

Tailoring used to signal formality, now it signals authority without the effort. It says I know who I am and I am confident, even if you're not. And when colour works with your natural tones, tailoring becomes transformative rather than intimidating. There are no 80s power suits to be seen anywhere this season.

Loafers

There's been a slight move this season in footwear. Whilst trainers still remain a firm favourite on the hight street in an array of styles, colours and textures, we are seeing more loafers as the choice of footwear. And the best thing is we are seeing them in more feminine styles. We've seen softer shapes, closed foot and backless, with tassels or metalwork and lots of texture and patterns as well as classic styles. Loafers are taking centre stage this season.

They instantly sharpen denim, soften suits and add substance to floaty dresses. Tan leather feels elevated and chic for springs and autumns and cool navy or deep burgundy feels sophisticated for winters and summers. Metallics feel playful and whether in silver or gold for cool or warm skin tones, they will work with any outfit.

Loafers are extremely practical, they are comfortable as they tend to be lower heeled or flat and they finish an outfit in a way trainers sometimes can’t.

Feminine Frills & Ruffles

Ruffles, frills, bows and pussy bows, lace trims and soft gathers are all details that are really evident on the high street this season. Even the most classic wardrobes are softening with a frilled blouse under a blazer or a lace-trim camisole with wide-leg trousers. Romantic details aren’t about being overly or overtly feminine, they’re about movement and softness in your look and they balance the sharper lines of tailoring beautifully.

Final Thoughts: A Reminder About Colour and Emotion

We can talk about trends all day, but what matters most is how you feel in what you wear. When colour harmonises with your skin tone, your eyes look brighter. When shape works with your proportions, you feel balanced. When fabric feels luxurious, you move differently. Clothes are not superficial, they influence mood, posture, and presence. Our role isn’t to preach the trends to you, it’s to coach you into understanding what works for you within them.

A Spring Invitation For You

Judi and I are running our Spring/Summer 2026 Seasonal Style Guide Evenings this month, where we’ll be exploring these, showing how to style them and adapt them to different body shapes, colour palettes and clothing personalities.

If you’ve ever looked at a new season's trend and thought that’s lovely, but not for me, this is exactly the space where we unpack why and how it can be for you.

We are inviting you to join our Seasonal Style Guide Evenings on the 25th and 31st March where we will talk through in more depth the key looks for this season, where to find them, how to wear them and how to find pieces already in your wardrobe that can be styled differently. You will also receive an extended shopping catalogue of over 100 pieces hand picked by Judi and myself, with shoppable links to make buying quick, easy and pain free.

Personal style isn’t about copying, it's about confidence and Spring/Summer 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most wearable, adaptable seasons we’ve seen in years. Now the question is, which of these five do you already have hiding in your wardrobe?

Next week in The Weekend Read we will be talking about how to style yourself when you are tired, overwhelmed or short on time. Does this sound like you?

Best wishes,
