Find the fabulous you

Fashion is about dressing according to what's fashionable. Style is more about being yourself - Oscar de la Renta

About Me:

Some while ago now I met up with a long-standing friend. Someone I’d not seen in years. The change in her staggered me. She looked fabulous. What’s more, it was evident that she knew she did and was loving the feeling!

She was bursting to tell me all about having her colours and style analysed by House of Colour. The confidence and infectious enthusiasm she’d developed from the process was both astonishing and wonderful to witness.

Now, at this point I should mention that in a past life I had a modelling career. So, as you might imagine, knowing about make-up, clothes, and accessories, and how to wear them – rather than them wearing you – was not too alien to me.  For that reason, undergoing a colour analysis and examination of my personal style wasn’t high on my priority list.

But I was so bowled over by my friend’s new-found attitude that I felt compelled to give it a go.  The upshot? House of Colour changed my life in more ways than one. Not only did HoC give my personal image a shake-up, it gave me a profession too. A rewarding one at that. Believe me when I say that the thrill I get from seeing a client transform in front of me is equal to theirs.

You see – I did learn from the colour and style analysis process. In a shared experience with so many women – ‘women of a certain age’ in particular – I discovered that I had, unnoticed by me, lost my way somewhat. Life had been challenging, as it is for so many of us, and through all that I’d lost sight of my style.

Thank goodness for my friend and for HoC!

Now, in working with HoC, I can share with you all that I learned. I can help you become the super-confident person that I saw my friend become. Because, in the words of Yves Saint Laurent, fashion is not only about making women more beautiful. It’s about reassuring them and giving them confidence.

The House of Colour process did that for my friend. It did it for me. And it will do it for you too.

Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live — Gianni Versace

I wish I’d had this done years ago!

I can’t tell you how many of my clients, once they’ve been through the colour and style process, tell me that.

They realise how much time and money they’ve wasted buying the wrong styles in the wrong colours. The thing is though – you don’t need to! You can do this now and not have to feel that sense of regret and frustration.

Close your eyes for a moment and imagine the daily simplicity and feel-good-factor of having absolute confidence in your style appearance? If you’ve ever fantasised about having an ideal capsule wardrobe – a few special garments excepted – then dream no more.

Assure your entry into the sartorial promised land with an understanding of your ‘WOW’ colours and your clothing personality.

Learn how to choose the right colours for you and what proportions to wear them in. Moreover, learn how to be a savvy shopper and develop your own style strategy. Nina Garcia, a well-known Columbian fashion journalist and critic, described a ‘style strategy’ as being a tool to shop for value without comprising your style.

Male or female and any age – it’s never too late to find your own style and colour Eden.

Book a day with me and House of Colour and we’ll find your own personal style strategy. All it takes is to hit the ‘Enquiry’ button at the top of this page. Make the move and you could well be in for a big surprise.

There’s no need to take my word for any of this though. A lovely client wrote this wonderful testimonial in a Christmas card! It’s a brilliant summation of why I love doing this.

‘Dear Annabel, having spent many years working to promote self-confidence and mental health, I thought I would say what an impact having my colours and style days have had!

Having struggled with body image and self-esteem as many of us do, I have always focused more on internal attitude and doing what you value.
Who would have guessed that spending two days with you would make me feel so confident and pleased about how I look?

I am less concerned about what others think, and yet receiving more compliments than ever in my life.
A heartfelt thank you, Helen’

Image matters

Whether we believe it should or not is by the by. We are what we wear.  Now your image may not matter so much in your personal life. Or you may think it doesn’t. But it does matter in your professional life. There, more than anywhere, first impressions count.

If you’re in the corporate and/or business world then how you dress most certainly does. There’s appropriateness to consider. And, should you be needing to convey authority, knowledge and professionalism then wearing the right clothes for you is a big step towards that. Do you remember the 1980s and the padded shoulders? Well, it wasn’t called power dressing for nothing.

Indeed, back in 1928, that queen of the modernists Virginia Woolf wrote ‘Orlando: a biography’. In this she explored the idea of our clothing as a vehicle of our identity and suggests that our clothes are much more than the ‘vain trifles’ they seem to be and argues they have more to do and more to say than to merely keep us warm. ‘They change our view of the world and the world’s view of us…’

Something to ponder on I’d say.

As is this testimonial from a client who moves in the corporate world

‘I have worked with senior leaders in a corporate environment for many years now. I found I was always dressing to a sort of uniform that felt pretty uninspired not to mention not very ‘me’.

A wonderful day spent with Annabel working out the colours that made me come alive and how to wear them has transformed shopping and what I wear. Instead of my black suit I seek out charcoal. Add bold purple, strong Chinese blue or emerald green (I am a Jewel Winter) instead of light blue shirts and ‘wow’ - my whole look changes.  Add the lipsticks that I now feel confident to wear and I feel like a new smart and radiant ‘me’.

Connect on social media

It’s rather difficult to describe in words the effect a colour analysis and style edit can have. So, if you’re into social media take a look at my HoC Swindon Facebook page and/or my Instagram feed (@Annabel_Czyba)  On these pages I post a range of pictures, with the client’s permission of course, to illustrate how transformative to one’s appearance the right colours are. They bring a face alive in a way that has to be seen to be believed.

Or have a listen to my recent interview with Virginia Stourton from Radio Corinium about the benefits of knowing your ‘season’ and your ‘Wow’ colours.
