Focusing on personal appearance may seem counter-intuitive to the fight for gender equality and equal pay. On a subconscious level, however, our brains can’t help but make snap judgements about others based on how they look. In this talk, Image Consultant Adele Martin shares the unspoken rules of dress and how we can use colour and style to empower us in our careers and personal lives. Knowing the formula for ‘looking good’ also challenges fast fashion culture by giving us the tools to shop mindfully and create a more sustainable wardrobe.
Entry to the event is free, however, attendees are invited to bring any unwanted new (unworn) clothing with tags on from their wardrobe. The donation will become part of an Alicas bespoke clothing parcel that will be gifted to women in clothing crisis. Alicas support individuals to rebuild their lives while giving retailers and members of the public to an environmentally and socially responsible way of re-purposing new garments. The clothing parcels help women retain their dignity, identity and confidence after fleeing an abusive partner.
