Conference 2023: HoC Award Winners
Posted by: House of Colour, February 24, 2023
At the 2023 "Enhance Your Skills" conference, we delivered dozens of training workshops and awarded some of our image consultants for achievements in business growth, marketing and innovation, among others.
Under the House of Colour framework, our franchises run their own business, and as a result of their expert colour and style analysis training, they deliver positive changes to clients lives, leaving them feeling empowered and confident for life!
Over two outstanding days, we celebrated and rewarded our continued success. Following on from our previous post, here are more stories from this year's winners.

Why did you decide to start your own business with House of Colour?
I wanted to do something meaningful in life where I got to combine my love of empowering others in the self-worth, along with my passion for colour and style - and how it makes us feel. I love HOC, and I wanted to train with the best - and give my best to those around me. It is a dream come true to be a HOC Consultant.
What’s the best part of running your own business and helping to transform clients’ lives?
I can't believe I get to do this as a job! I love seeing the penny drop in my client’s eyes when they can see that who they are is enough - it's remarkable and is exactly why I went into this as a job. The best part is when they look in the mirror at the end and say, 'I look great'. We all have a different walk in life and often can go through a lot, so seeing those people value themselves in their own skin is the best feeling in the world.
What has becoming a HOC consultant taught you about yourself?
I honestly feel like I'm doing what I was born to do. Being a HOC consultant has taught me that I have a unique gift to give people; not just through colour and style but in who I am as an individual. We all have something unique to share with the world, and being a HOC consultant has taught me that my uniqueness is what helps to make my clients feel safe, loved and enough.

Why did you decide to start your own business with House of Colour?
The impact of my own HoC sessions was so profound, that I wanted to share this with others. I left a totally unrelated business world of engineering, to become a HoC consultant in 2008.
What’s the best part of running your own business and helping to transform clients’ lives?
I can choose my work life balance. Although – more importantly, it’s the satisfaction of seeing the client blossom and realise that they can access their toolkit to confidence via their wardrobe. They can become who they’re meant to be. So joyful.
What has becoming a HoC consultant taught you about yourself?
Just how much I’ve enjoyed learning about people and their back stories, it’s helped me overcome many of my own self-doubts. That I enjoy training others to do the same job, I enjoy the independence of having my own business allied to being a small cog in a big, wonderful and colourful wheel of varied and amazing people.

Why did you decide to start your own business with House of Colour?
I needed to be present for my children. My first born was an IVF baby. I wasn't prepared to put him into nursery 7am to 6pm 3 days a week, but I'm not a stay-at-home mum either. My passion is fashion; and I knew I could turn my passion into an energy that would serve others and afford me the home/work life balance I craved.
What’s the best part of running your own business and helping to transform clients’ lives?
The freedom to live my life the way I choose and the knowing, that I have the skills to make a positive difference in client’s lives.
What has becoming a HoC consultant taught you about yourself?
I'm a creative, courageous and resilient person. My role in life is to lead, by using the tools of colour and style to empower individuals.

Why did you decide to start your own business with House of Colour?
When I’d had my own colours analysed - 30 years ago now - it changed my life. I wanted everyone I knew to experience the benefit so was always at the local consultant buying gift vouchers! When she decided to move on, she asked me if I wanted to take over as she knew how passionate I was about House of Colour. Being a lawyer by trade and not a size eight model, my initial reaction was “me, a colour and style consultant?!” My heart had already answered a resounding “yes” before my head got a chance to figure it out. That was 12 years ago now and it was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life.
What’s the best part of running your own business and helping to transform clients’ lives?
It’s a real privilege to empower people to be the best version of themselves and to unlock a confidence in them, enabling their best authentic self to shine brightly.
What has becoming a HoC consultant taught you about yourself?
That I love being a catalyst for positive change! I get to do what I love as a “job” and feel exceptionally blessed to be able to do so. Also, that you don’t have to be a size eight model to be a successful consultant. People value the real you and your authenticity.

Why did you decide to start your own business with House of Colour?
I had been a teacher for 32 years and a headteacher for 5 and achieved everything I wanted to. Following a life-changing breast cancer diagnosis in 2016, I felt it was time to do something different that not only made a positive difference to people’s lives but most of all brought me joy.
What’s the best part of running your own business and helping to transform clients’ lives?
I love building relationships with my clients, keeping in touch with them and watching their journey and helping them along the way. That is what is so rewarding.
What has becoming a HoC consultant taught you about yourself?
I’m definitely a people pleaser so offering a service that empowers people to be the very best version of themselves and gain greater confidence really suits my personality. My husband has remarked that I’m a different person now and that he has never known me to be so happy.
