Hello
My Name is Sue Perrott and I have been a House of Colour Consultant for Sevenoaks and the surrounding areas for twenty years.
I heard about Colour and Style at a talk on the subject in 1985 which I attended with my Nursing Colleagues. I went out of curiosity and for fun little realising the impact it would have on my life. The talk, by Carolyn Miller, was very inspiring and a few weeks later seven of us had our Colours Analysed. Soon after we followed up with an Image and Make Up Day.
I was declared a Spring which meant wearing the clear and bright paint box colours of grassy greens, aquamarine, blue, flame red, coral and corn yellows combined with the neutrals of warm browns, beige and bright navy. "Oh joy, aquamarine, I always kind of knew/was drawn to this colour" I announced "Well now you know that you know" was Carolyn's response. And that made all the difference because whenever I came across it from then on I made a beeline for it and I still do.
Like most women, if not all, black featured in my wardrobe which, as well as grey, pinks and burgundy, were doing me no favours. In there also were warm earthy colours which were just not quite bright enough to be working the magic we talk about. Black shoes never felt right on my large out of proportion feet, though I didn't know why, so it was no great problem to give them up! I understood at last why the fuchsia lipstick, blusher and nail varnish, bought to go with an accent colour in an evening dress, didn't feel right and was only worn once.
Style wise I wasn't far off the mark. I could continue and develop wearing casual clothes with a variety of textures and natural fabrics with the addition of femininity. I love beads, seeds, sequins and ribbon lace. I was released from having to be "suited and booted", the look my Father liked and which felt restrictive and too formal for me yet a wonderful look for those it suits.
The days and weeks that followed brought comments about how well I looked and a certain curiosity as to what had changed. Over the years I have received some precious complements, some from complete strangers, a wonderful boost for the mature woman!
Two years later when Carolyn was setting up a new Company she suggested I might like to consider becoming a Consultant as I had inspired so many local friend and colleagues with my enthusiasm to acquire the information for themselves.
And here I am twenty years later.
I enjoyed working as a Team Leader for ten of those years and now do some of the assessments for our Investors In People Award. In the last eight years I have also worked as a fitter for the House of Colour "Exclusives" Women's Tailoring Service.
It is still a great privilege to be involved with enhancing people's lives. Benefits are various and are often reported back to me whether it's in the form of a new job, promotion, new or enhanced relationships. Most of all is the buzz gained from the raised self esteem many experience when they make the appropriate changes, some of which may be small, but very significant.
My aim is to help my clients see and understand my recommendations so that they can put them into practice and proceed, equipped with fresh ideas and confidence and to reap the benefits of their investment.
If you are at all inspired, don't hesitate to call me for further information when I will be happy to talk you through the process and answer your questions.
