Trend Report
Thursday 23rd February 7.30pm

Yes, its our new wording for the old Fashion Update!  It's always so exciting seeing what's new - and, for the cynical among us, seeing what's actually the "same old" and what we can remember from last time they tried that one on us!

Apparently, the received wisdom is that if you can remember it last time round then you're too old to wear it this time. Hmmm. Let's just treat that one with the contempt it deserves, eh? For many of us we didn't have the confidence or knowledge to wear it successfully last time. Now that we know that look really works for us then let's do it with style, with maturity and with the quality that we certainly couldn't afford when we were nineteen!

So do book your place on the Update: it's £20 including your own personalised copy (I'm sorry it's gone up in price. I actually did my sums and realised how expensive the report was to produce!)

As usual, if you can't get along to the evening, then you can have a copy of the report for £20, including the postage, or £10 if you're happy for me to send it to you by email.

Just let me know on the usual email address.

Fri 2nd March (3 places available)
Sat 31st March (4 places available)
Fri 27th April (3 places available)

Come and see for yourself the difference that wearing colours that suit your natural skin, hair and eye colour makes. It's amazing! Find out how good you can really look! This class will ensure that you know what colours work for you so you can avoid wasting time and money buying clothes and accessories in colours that just don't work for you.

The class is held in the Long Barn Studio and starts at 9.30am. Half a day to three quarters of a day, depending upon the number of people in the class.

Women's Personal Style Day - £130
Please ask for other diary dates to suit you

Thurs 6th March (3 places)
Sat 17th March (1 place)

This is the class where it really is all about you. We will discover the styles and shapes of clothes that work in harmony with your lifestyle, your body architecture and your personality, so you can start to feel totally self-expressed and attractive in whatever you are wearing on every occasion.

In this class we look at the roles you fulfill in your life, your shopping preferences and how you can make them work for you, who you need to be (and want to be) in the world, and how your personality and body work together to guide you towards the perfect clothing choices.

Skincare & Makeup Class £40
Please ask for other diary dates to suit you

Tues 20th March 7.30pm (3 places)

A three hour hands on session to discover the secrets of expert skincare and make-up. Learn how to apply make-up skillfully and subtly to look finished rather than made-up. We will have a lot of fun and you will learn how to go from "bare" to "fully made up" in a way that, with a bit of practise, will take only 5 minutes! How great is that!

MEN'S COLOUR & PERSONAL STYLE COURSE £215
Please contact me for a suitable diary date

You know that when a product looks good, it sells better. Everyone knows that, right?

We all have to "sell" ourselves out there every day - even if we think we don't. So, it makes sense to look good.

This is a sensible straightward class that will take the guesswork out of buying those shirts, ties, trousers.

Learn the right cut of clothes for your physique. Find out how you do casual (it's different for everyone). Discover the ties and accessories that say the right (and honest) things about who you are.

After the men's colour and image course you will save time and money, and be able to shop quickly and with confidence.

Colour Analysis, Image Consultant and Personal Style Advisor for Huntingdon, St Ives, St Neots, West Cambridgeshire and East Bedfordshire

I first came across House of Colour as a result of being turned down for a job. I was well qualified for the job, had given a good interview and was turned down because, the panel thought, I appeared "too boring".

I couldn't understand it: they wanted a chartered accountant!

Now I knew I wasn't boring, so obviously I was giving the wrong impression. Accordingly I took myself off to my nearest House Of Colour image consultant and discovered some fascinating things. I found out that the colours I had been wearing drained me. The styles I had been wearing diminished me and my long hair drowned me when left loose or, when put up in a "sophisticated" knot for work, made me look like a librarian! (by the way - I don't know of any actual librarians who look as bad as I did!).

No wonder the interview panel judged me boring!

The impact the change in my wardrobe and hairstyle had was amazing. I would never had believed I could look this good, or feel this confident. I am now delighted to be a House of Colour Consultant myself.

"But," (you say) "how does it work for me?"

My commitment is to help you to find this confidence for yourself. The good news is that you are much more attractive than you think you are. It is only a question of discovering the colours and styles that suit you. I see the colour and image classes as a part of our personal self-development journey. Part of it involves finding out what is inside and putting it on the outside, so we are telling the truth about ourselves.

Together we find the colours that really make people see you and the styles of clothes that not only look great on you, but in which you feel totally comfortable and self-expressed, whether you're dressed for work, relaxing or a party!

It's honestly much more easy than you think, and it all comes from inside you. You already really know what's right for you, and after these classes you will give yourself permission to go out and actually do it. I promise that you will look great and, more importantly, feel great about the way you look.

"What classes do I need first?"

If you are an "all at once as fast as possible" person, then the Fast Track Day (£380) is the one for you. We find the right colours, styles and makeup for you all in one day on a one to one basis. It's an intense day, but you've got it all covered, and then shops, watch out!

If you like to take a little more time, or prefer working in a group, then splitting the classes is more appropriate. I recommend doing the Colour Class (£99) first, then the Makeup (£40) and Personal Style (£130) Classes. How much time you take between each class is up to you, but you can book all three (the Journey) for a discounted price of £250 as long as we have the dates in the diary.

"How do I book?"

Just click on the enquiry form, or pick up the phone or send me an email. If the class dates here don't work for you, then let's work out something that does. I'm always happy to talk through any concerns you may have, so don't hesitate to call or email.

"What Happens Afterwards?"

I like to think of an Image Consultant as a dog: not just for Christmas! I offer an ongoing service of shopping days, wardrobe reviews, open days at the studio and I'm always just at the end of the phone or email if you need advice and I love hearing from you. There are additional classes, such as the Accessorising Workshop and Style Developement Class available for our "graduates" and I keep in touch with regular newsletters telling you about any interesting offers around.

Also - would you like me to give a talk?

The next best thing to actually doing my job is talking about it, and so, if you have a group or society (no matter how small) I would love to come and do a talk for you. Just contact me to find out more.

What my clients have to say (and I haven't paid them to say this):

Judith - Huntingdon: “Mary has transformed my image, my wardrobe and my career. She allows the real me to be seen by colleagues, clients and friends. The two days in her "chair" were a revelation and a delight. My confidence levels rocketed and my ambition to become a more technical member of my organisation was realised. The icing on the cake? I actually enjoy shopping now!”

Teresa - Sawtry“I attended a Colour Workshop with Mary and was blown away by the detail that was involved. As well as it being a thoroughly enjoyable and fun day, Mary's knowledge of her subject was incredible. A huge element of trust is involved with something like this and anyone wanted to have their colours done should chose their consultant wisely. I would definitely recommend Mary even if you don't live locally to her, as she is sensitive, professional but also fun. It was great to be a part of other people's journey as well as beginning my own.
I have since gone through my wardrobe and got rid of 2 bin bags of clothes. My aim now is to look as good as I possibly can, all of the time.
Can't wait to attend the image day also, although this may mean some more clothes need to go!! "

Rosalind - St Ives: "I have just had a Wake up your make-up, with Mary, and I can't tell you how impressed I was: she was FABULOUS!!! She really listened, she really got it, she took lots of time and care choosing the colours, she exhibited huge skill in her fine judgments between different options, and I am so delighted with what she has come up with. I can't recommend her highly enough for this!"

Yasmin - Huntingdon: "Mary's classes have been more useful to me than I ever imagined. I now enjoy browsing my wardrobe and instead of feeling panic and worry about what I am going to wear, I am excited and eager to see what delights await me when I open the doors. I have always had colour confidence but being more aware of my own body shape means I now shop for different styles. And, shopping trips are more fun, even if I come home with nothing! Thank you Mary - I am a new woman"
