RETRO CHIC

Pictures Set 1 Set 2

Revisit the Golden Age of Hollywood with a spotlight on 1930’s/1940’s glamour. Fabulous frocks and chic lady-like tailoring take centre stage this season, in tribute to the iconic style of screen legends such as Veronica Lake, Hedi Lamar and Lauren Bacall.

The waist is back, with new versions of the hour glass silhouette - structured shoulder pads, nipped in waists and straight pencil skirts are pure 1940’s, while cinching belts and full flaring skirts are distinctly Dior.  The tailored skirt-suit is big news again, while drapy dresses and elegant coats are the epitome of grown-up chic.

Glossy satins, velvets and furs heighten the glamour with sinuous jerseys and fluid wool crêpes.  Art Deco lines inspire bold geometric prints, echoed by colour-block stripes, window pane checks and discreet stylised florals.  Luxurious details are a must with sumptuous fur trims, structured drape effects, geometric beadings, satin appliqués and sparkly crystal motifs.

An opulent colour palette combines dark, moody burgundies, claret reds and inky damsons with rich forest shades of bottle green, cinnamon and nut brown, crowned with a chorus of spectacular brights, glorious reds, acid lime greens, regal royal blues and flaming fuchsias.

Complete the look with stylish cloche hats, narrow cinching belts, sleek leather gloves, precise hand-held bags and teetering platform shoes; while immaculate grooming and matt red lipstick are the essential finishing touch.

This is a great look for anyone with Classic in their clothing personality, especially in combination with Dramatic and Romantic.
