| Hello, and welcome! My name is Emma Ray, and I'm the Image Consultant & Colour Analyst for Croydon and Warlingham, including Purley CR8, Kenley, Sanderstead , South Croydon CR2, East Croydon CR0 & CR9, West Croydon, Shirley and Addington.
Firstly thank you for taking the time to find out about House of Colour. This may well be the first step to taking the most exciting and revealing journey of your life.
My first introduction to House of Colour was 9 years ago when a work colleague came into work wearing the first bit of make up I'd ever seen on her - a lipstick. That was all, just a lipstick, but the impact was so huge, she looked so amazing, and different, I just had to comment. So I told her how fab she looked and how much the lipstick colour suited her, and she just said "I know, I had my colours done by House of Colour". Well, that was it, I was hooked!
She gave me her consultant's details so I could buy a Colour Analysis voucher for my mum's birthday, and I went along to see what it was all about. I went home that day having seen the same transformation on my mum, knowing that all the colours I had in my wardrobe, my make up bag, and on my hair were wrong, so my mum bought me a voucher too.
My consultant, Sally, revealed I was an Autumn, and although I was excited by most of the rich earthy colours, I then had the challenge of gradually removing all the black from my very dull wardrobe.
The next stage was to return for the Personal Style day to find out my clothing personality. This helped me understand why some items only came out of the wardrobe for a brief moment before returning unworn, and why other items were worn to death. I learnt how to show my personality through my appearance, how to dress appropriately for most situations, and how to shop wisely in future. Lastly I did the make up class to perfect the finishing touches.
This knowledge took me through the next 7 years of office life, swimming teaching (even my costumes were right!), getting married, having two children and leaving work to be a full time mum.
All my friends went on to have their colours and style done, and we'd have many passionate conversations on the subject.
Then in January 2007 my consultant, Sally Grourk, contacted me to say she was ready to retire from House of Colour and had always thought of me to take over the business, and was I at all interested?
It seemed like fate and I was delighted. We made the arrangements and I completed my training. Sadly Sally had been bravely fighting secondary breast cancer, and she passed away in July 2007. I really miss her, as do many of her clients, but I am also proud to be carrying on the work she so loved.
