Is lack of money, choice, organisation skills or time the problem?
If you can master the art of creating, implementing and trusting your diary system, less 'clutter' to carry in your head leaves you more effective in your life, regardless of what you do. Understanding how to choose and structure one to work for you and your lifestyle rather than someone else's is the key to your life working effectively.
Wardrobes are to how we look and feel, as diaries are to how we think and operate. Understanding how to create, implement and trust your wardrobe system to support you with what is required for the occasion will free your time, money and head space for other areas of your life; confident in the knowledge that opening your wardrobe will give you a choice of everything which works for you. Learn how to select clothes where the colour, style, shape and proportion work for you. Create a wardrobe system that works for you and your lifestyle, implement it and clear the clutter:
Instead of opening up a wardrobe full of clothes with nothing to wear, step into a world of many possible options all of which you will enjoy and feel good in because they put you 'In Focus'.

An interesting concept, 'I'm too fat (tall/short/skinny etc)' ......but then who doesn't have something 'wrong' with them?
It is a common feature of our society to try and fix the things that are wrong with us. In school we get 'extra' lessons at what we're not good at, why not get extra lessons in what we love and are good at and see what is possible through releasing the true potential?
And how true is this also of the way we dress? Someone says 'I'm a chinless wonder', surely better to describe it as a 'soft jaw line' and in doing so realise that soft and loose necklines are likely to suit you better. 'I've got a neck like a giraffe!' ......when dressed to show it in it's best light is elegant and sophisticated; even striking? Two different assets unlikely to suit the same thing - putting a high tight neckline on a soft jaw line will make you look like you have no neck at all, putting a soft or loose neckline on a long neck will make you look like a periscope coming out of the waves.
Dressing our assets - our best bits - is not easy when we can't see them, try focusing on what you don't like then rephrasing it or looking just above or below it? Many women who complain about 'big bums' are not only lovely and curvy, they also happen to have that enviable waist so many others desire!

It seems that Interviews are the subject of many people's conversations at the moment. In conversation with a restaurant manager it was interesting to hear the importance he places on the presentation of his staff for delivering an all round wonderful experience to his customers.
Much as people say 'Don't judge by appearances' it is well accepted that if you look like you know what you're talking about then people believe you. With any languages it is easy to understand the general concept of what someone is saying, but unless you are native or fluent, the subtleties are often missed, or worse, misused to great hilarity or the result of unintentionally offending someone.
So it is with the language of Clothes: Wearing a suit to an interview is generally understood as appropriate, acceptable or even required. But do you speak the language fluently enough to set yourself apart from the competition and win the confidence of the interviewer rather than offending them?
We have many examples at House of Colour of clients who have taken bigger leaps up the salary/career ladder or increased their fees (when self-employed) on the back of knowing they look the part, for little more than the investment in an Image class. Review your image book to see where you can gain the edge or invest in class for yourself. Women and men alike reap the rewards time and again. |

Many friends are currently anticipating, (amazingly in a recessional climate) volunteering for redundancy or looking for jobs at the moment. I have noticed a really positive attitude amongst those who have already invested in their Image because not only do they know they will look their best at interview or for setting themselves up in business, they know how to use their wardrobe to reinforce their verbal messages about who they are. That leaves more energy to focus on finding the best job/employer for them! |

Browsing the web late at night I came across an article on Fortune 500, Where celebrities were asked ‘What was the best advice you ever got?’ – it made me think how these lessons in life apply to all areas, including the way we look, present ourselves. Tiger Woods advice to ‘Keep it Simple’ is exactly what we share with the concept of a Capsule Wardrobe resulting in saving time, money, space, excess baggage when going on holiday.
People often say they feel a bit intimidated when they find out I’m an image consultant, immediately making excuses for why they’re not looking their best ‘today’.
Tip 1: If everything in your wardrobe suits you, you won’t need to feel self-conscious by anyone you meet regardless of who they are.
I usually say something like ‘Don’t worry, I’m off duty at the moment’ to which they usually laugh and say something like ‘Don’t you find you look at everyone and criticise what they are wearing’ …… my response is nearly always ‘…don’t you?’
In many homes across the country it’s a good sport to sit and comment on TV presenters outfits – We all make judgements about people all the time; these judgements don’t have to be good or bad, they just help us relate to the world at large!
Tip 2: Everyone judges on appearance at some level.
It doesn’t mean we have to dress in a specific way, rather honour who and what we are with our appearance. Helping people gain an accurate 1st impression of who we are eases our own path through life. |

Before and After. It's when we look at the Contrast, we see the difference! Before, and not "In Focus" you can look ill, tired, washed out and older. After, and "In Focus" you look really well, healthy, younger and the eyes are sparkling, full of life. Quote from one young woman this week "When I look back at photos of myself, I look mostly awful. Now, my husband says, I'm like a fine wine, exquisite" How lovely is that! |

Every day, ordinary people’s lives are enhanced by our consultants who are sharing their expertise and knowledge.
On attending a consultation, there are those who have been very skeptical initially, however, when we demonstrate the differences in what does and doesn’t look so good, they soon begin to see and understand what suits them best.
Feedback from clients is that they find it a real eye opening experience, which gives them greater confidence in their appearance and enables them to look at themselves in a new way. Being so delighted with their new “In Focus” look they recommend their friends and colleagues to invest in this life experience, and so the cycle of awareness continues to grow. |

Finding a job is difficult enough in the current economic climate, so finding a job that you love is such a gift, a privilege and a pleasure.
It brings great excitement. Every morning when you wake up, rather than dread the day ahead, you get up with energy, a spring in your step, and feel light hearted
The work is not a chore, it’s enjoyable. You don’t worry about what time you are going to get home, as time flies past when you are doing what you love.
Our consultants love what they do, with a passion, and so can you. |

The Oxford English Dictionary defines image as ‘a representation of the external form of a person or thing in art’ and the ‘general impression that a person, organization, or product presents to the public’. ‘Image’ encompasses your attitude, countenance, demeanour and your presence, governing the perception and impression that you make on others. Here at House of Colour, Image is highly important. We seek to transform your image to help you achieve your goals, feel happier in yourself and present your true character. Don’t undervalue your image; strive for a better future by enhancing your true self today. |

Shape is more important than size
Make the most of what you have, rather than trying to be something you’re not, or hiding your shape.
“Be a first rate version of yourself rather than a 2nd rate version of somebody else” Joan Collins
Clothes speak volumes and can outweigh a really good CV. First impressions have you asking “Does the person look intelligent?; do they care about their look?”!.
Don’t let yourself go. Get serious enough to understand your body, knowing which bits to emphasise and which to hide, then understand how to do it.
You will need an objective eye to help you get on track |

Visible, Invisible or “In FOCUS”
Standing out in a crowd for the right reasons and being proud to do so.
There are times when blending into the background seems a good option, when you’re not in the mood to mingle.
Other times, life can just pass you by, nothing out of the ordinary happens – it’s as if you are invisible.
Remember the last time you saw someone looking amazing, in fact you couldn’t stop yourself from telling them so!
That’s “In Focus”, these “In Focus” secrets have been shared with thousands and thousands of clients over more than 20 years.
The early adopters – those that seized the opportunity, took action and got the results. |
